Step by step

1. Learn the profession. Talk to Herbalist and use the option to learn Herbalism. Then check that it appears as learned in Professions.
2. Inspect the plant. Check its name and required profession level. Character level and Herbalism level are separate forms of progress.
3. Stand next to it. From an adjacent tile, use a normal attack on the plant. Spells and pets do not gather for you.
4. Gather and store the materials. Leave room in your inventory. Keep track of herbs by name: recipes distinguish each species.
5. Check your progress. Select Herbalism in Professions to see its level, experience and statistics. As your level exceeds a plant’s requirement by more, the materials you obtain may improve.

Plants and profession level

The plant catalogue uses the following Herbalism requirements. These levels do not indicate where each species appears or how often it respawns.

What to do with herbs

Check Alchemy before selling or using your collection. Some recipes combine several species, and advanced ones need higher progression herbs. Not every plant is used in the same recipe.

You can obtain ingredients through trading even if your character has not learned the profession. Learning to gather and meeting crafting material requirements are different things.

If a plant cannot be gathered

• Check that you have learned Herbalism.
• Check that your profession level meets the requirement for that species.
• Stand on an adjacent tile and use a normal attack.
• Check inventory space and weight.
• Read the game’s message before repeating the action.
